If you or your participants are having audio issues while in the meeting here are some general principles to help eliminate audio issues.

1. Before joining a meeting, plug in any external devices (headset, headset with mic, or external speaker).
2. Webex uses your operating system default sound- speaker and mic.

3. You can change the audio source from within Webex Meetings and Webex Events once you are in the meeting or before you join. If you can't hear through the headset and/or the mic does not appear to work, follow the directions below to resolve this issue.

If you are first joining a meeting you have the opportunity to set your audio.

If using Call Using Computer, you can change the following:
  • Audio source by selecting the drop down arrows
  • Test if you hear any sound or input coming from your microphone and speakers
  • Adjust the output and input levels of your speaker and microphone.



Note - With Music Mode checked, Webex preserves the original sound from your microphone and turns off all automatic audio enhancements, including echo cancellation and background noise suppression. This option is recommended if you want to play music or a musical instrument.

If you are already in your session and need to get back to these controls, you can select the down arrows next to the corresponding setting you would like to change:
Windows & Mac - select from the menu buttons - Down arrows for either audio or video | Select the preferred audio/video source

How To Test Webex Video

Go to https://www.webex.com/test-meeting.html.

Enter your name and email address, and then click Join .

If you don't already have the app installed, you'll be prompted to click the installer file. On Windows, click Webex.exe. On Mac, click Webex.pkg.


Install the desktop app to get the full-featured meeting experience. If you’re not using a Mac or Windows computer, or you can’t install apps, don’t worry. You can still join right from your web browser by clicking Join from your browser .

Next, choose how you want to hear everyone in the meeting.

  • Use computer for audio (default) ̶ Use your computer with a headset or speakers.
  • Call in ̶ If you prefer to use your phone for audio, dial in when the meeting starts. A list of the global call-in numbers is available after you join the meeting. Choose this option if your Internet connection is slow.
  • Don't connect audio ̶ Use this option when you need to join a meeting and share content, and don't need audio. For example, you're in a conference room with your team, or someone already connected to the meeting from a video device.

If you want to join with your microphone muted, click Mute .

You'll see when your microphone is muted. Click Unmute when you want to speak.

If you want to join the meeting with your video turned off, click Stop video .

You'll see when your video is turned off. Click Start video when you want to show your video.

Click Join Meeting .

Click OK when you see the message about the host not being in the meeting.

Try out the available options.

When you're finished, click Leave , and then select Leave Meeting .
